Charlotte Hornets

Overview:

Malik Monk gets perhaps a much-needed change of scenery and joining the Hawks who send rookie center and the 52nd overall pick to Charlotte to compensate.

Why Atlanta says yes:

Second chances are hit-and-miss, but if Monk continues to struggle in Atlanta he’ll be off the books after next season. It also clears up the frontcourt roster to make another move.

Why Charlotte says yes:

Malik Monk didn’t work out and Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Bruno Fernando is just 21 and flashed two-way talent at times for the Hawks during his rookie season.

Why Atlanta says no:

Between Trae Young, Cam, Reddish, and Kevin Huerter and whoever the Hawks acquire during free agency/the draft. Bruno Fernando is, at the very least, a cheap roster-filler for the next two years.

Why Charlotte says no:

Monk still has a higher ceiling than Fernando, and if turns into a star in Atlanta, it would look bad for Charlotte.
