Atlanta Hawks: One Potential Off-Season Trade With Each Team
By Dallin Duffy
Dallas Mavericks
Overview:
Dallas moves up at least ten draft spots by sending guard Delon Wright to the Hawks
Why Atlanta says yes:
Delon Wright’s defensive presence would make him an ideal backup to Trae Young while moving down 10-15 spots may not be such a bad thing in this draft.
Why Dallas says yes:
Atlanta’s pick can possibly be between 1-8, giving the Mavs a cheap rotational player that’ll come in handy when its time to give Luka Doncic max money. Delon Wright is a good player, but the trade would free up their backcourt that already houses Doncic, Jalen Brunson, Tim Hardaway Jr, J.J Barea (free agent), and Seth Curry.
Why Atlanta says no:
If they fall in love with a player that’ll be gone by the Mavs’ 18th pick, they may not want to turn him down for the 28-year-old Wright.
Why Dallas says no:
Delon Wright is a solid defender and no one in this years’ draft looks so good that you have to trade up for them.
