LBJ or Jordan? Atlanta Hawks’ Kevin Huerter Weighs In on GOAT Debate

Atlanta Hawks guard Kevin Huerter gives his opinion on GOAT debate.
Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Kevin Huerter participated in an AMA (ask me anything) on Bleacher Report Friday morning. He talked about playing with Vince Carter, the potential Chicago Bubble, and his ‘welcome to the NBA’ moment. You can read the full transcript here.
One question that caught a few people’s eyes was Huerter’s opinion on who the NBA’s G.O.A.T is. Huerter answered: “After watching the last dance, it’s tough to dispute Jordan. I always thought it was LeBron. So I’m saying 1A, 1B it’s Jordan and LeBron.”
The Last Dance, a ten-part ESPN documentary, aired over the Summer and helped fill the hole that the lack of live sports has made in people’s lives. The series followed the Chicago Bulls’ 1996-1997 season, but also focused on Jordan’s career as a whole.
“After watching the last dance, it’s tough to dispute Jordan. I always thought it was LeBron. So I’m saying 1A, 1B it’s Jordan and LeBron.”
It left an obvious impact on the younger players in the league, with Trae Young, Terry Rozier, RJ Barrett, Donovan Mitchell, and many others all responding to the doc on Social Media. Rozier, a player on the Michael Jordan-owned Charlotte Hornets, admitted he didn’t know the Bulls three-peated twice.
Kevin Huerter also seems to fall into that category, pointing out in his answer that LeBron James was the greatest of all-time in his eyes before seeing the series. He explained this a bit more in another answer later in the AMA.
A user asked him which player past or present that Huerter would like to play with, he answered: “I think my true favorite player growing up was LeBron, so I’d say him.” He also said he thinks the Lakers will win the Finals this season.
He obviously thinks highly of both LeBron James and Micahel Jordan, giving the six-time championship a slight edge for G.O.A.T status.
