PF/C. USC. Onyeka Okongwu. 7. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 519

Measurables:

Position: Power forward/center

Height: 6’9

Weight: 245

Wingspan: 7’1

Overview:

Textbook rim-running forward who has a knack for blocking shots.

NBA Outlook:

Okongwu plays like a center on defense and a small forward on offense, leaving his NBA position a bit up in the air. He may work best as a small-ball five but may be too weak to defend the high-end big men.

Player Comparison:

I’ve tried to avoid the low-hanging fruit on the rest of the comparisons, but Oknogwu’s comparison to Bam Adebayo is pretty spot on – just like everyone else on the internet is saying.

Fit With Atlanta Hawks:

Oknogwu’s versatility on both ends makes him a better frontcourt fit than Obi Toppin or James Wiseman, but the fit still isn’t perfect. As a backup to John Collins, Okongwu can polish his game while fighting for rim-run looks.
