Why Trae Young would have thrived in the NBA Bubble in Orlando.

Peanut butter and jelly. Chips and dip. David Schimmer and mediocre comedy. Trae Young and the NBA Bubble in Orlando. Somethings just go together well.

Trae’s fit in the bubble is still an ‘on paper’ fit as the Atlanta Hawks weren’t invited to Orlando, but it doesn’t make his potential fit any less perfect.

As we near the end of the regular season restart, one thing has stolen the show: offense. Balls have been flying through nets at unprecedented rates, with all 22 teams averaging over 100 points per game, eight over 120 per game.

Young offensive superstars have taken center stage, with guys like Brandon Ingram, Luka Doncic, TJ Warren, and Devin Booker have stolen the spotlight from more well-rounded players.

Three-point marksmen have also felt more comfortable than ever from beyond the arc at Disney, with some noting the lack of distracting fans making it easier for snipers to fire on target.

Now, who’s a young star not in Orlando who can score from anywhere on the court but is especially dangerous from deep?

Ice Trae.

Trae Young, the NBA’s fourth-leading scorer, would have been perfect for the offensive-extravaganza that is the Orlando Bubble, and it’s incredibly disappointing to not see him out there.

It’s easy to imagine Young putting the Hawks on his back and recording absurd stat lines much like Booker is with his underdog (and at this point, undefeated) Suns.

Talks of a second bubble in Chicago have seemed to died down, with the latest reports indicating that if anything, the bottom eight teams could be invited into the existing bubble for training camp-like activities. Whether or not that involves scrimmages of some sort or just practice is yet to be seen.

There is a small chance we will see “Bubble Trae” at some point, but for the most part, the NBA missed out on having one of their brightest young stars tear it up in the national spotlight.
