Bruno Fernando – Forward/Center

John Collins missing 25 games during his suspension propelled Bruno Fernando into a more prominent role than anyone anticipated for him in his rookie season with the Atlanta Hawks. Playing in 56 games, Fernando averaged just 4.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Fernando didn’t rebound or defend well enough to secure that type of role this season, and the Hawks will get Clint Capela back from injury as well. John Collins will be healthy and ready to go, with Danilo Gallinari coming off of the bench to replace him. So at most, Fernando will be Capela’s backup and should be able to provide relief in the case of an injury. He’ll need to make some strides on the defensive end of the floor if he wants to keep the minutes that he had last season, though that isn’t looking likely right now.
