Atlanta Hawks: How would James Harden trade impact the team, Trae Young?
By Josh Wilson
Trae Young needs to be great and the Atlanta Hawks want to win. Period
Finally, the Atlanta Hawks can’t let the ongoing James Harden situation impact them or their plans all that much.
We know they are almost certainly not going to trade for Harden, which means the impacts of a trade are merely secondary for Atlanta.
Atlanta can’t control who plays where or what trades happen, they can only control how hard they play on a nightly basis and their preparation for what will be a unique 2020-21 season.
Trae Young took a leap in year two and is already an All-Star at 22 years old. While this expectation is a steep one, fans expect him to keep getting better.
And even more than that, fans expect the team as a whole to be better this season. They’ve made some great offseason additions that will impact the team in many different ways, and ultimately, the roster being rolled out this year is far better than last year’s.
The playoffs are certainly a goal. While it’s not a “playoff or bust” season, the goal is to. compete.
Whether or not Harden is moved, the Hawks know what they need to do.
