Atlanta Hawks: Are the Hawks better or worse at small forward?

Small Forward

2019 – 2020: Cam Reddish, De’Andre Hunter, Vince Carter, Paul Watson, Treveon Graham

2020 – 2021: Cam Reddish, De’Andre Hunter, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Tony Snell

Much like the shooting guard position, it’ll be very interesting to see how Lloyd Pierce chooses to approach his depth at small forward. The additions of Bogdan Bogdanovic and Tony Snell give the Hawks much more perimeter shooting than they’ve had in the past but doesn’t provide a ton of relief on the defensive end. Snell and Bogdanovic are both capable defenders however and with nice size, should be able to hold their own. If they fail to, Cam Reddish has shown that he can defend with the type of intensity the Hawks will certainly need moving forward.

Another player to keep an eye on in the small forward spot will be Hawks sophomore De’Andre Hunter. Hunter was thrown into a more prominent role than many expected last year, but the minutes should prove to help him out in the long run. He had a hot and cold shooting season but was a solid 3-and-D wing for the Hawks last year. Putting up 12.3 points per game and grabbing 4.5 rebounds a night wasn’t a bad look for Hunter’s rookie campaign.

VERDICT: BETTER
