The Atlanta Hawks seem to be a much better rebounding team this year

The Atlanta Hawks haven’t been known for their presence in the paint since the likes of Al Horford left the city several years ago. But in the first two preseason games this year, the Hawks have already shown that they can rebound better than they did last year.

In back to back games, the Hawks snagged 61 rebounds which absolutely shattered their total average of 43.3 per game last season. Some notable guys on the board were John Collins and Clint Capela, who finished with 11 and 12 rebounds respectively. Kevin Huerter was also crashing hard, grabbing 9 rebounds to go along with his 8 points. Danilo Gallinari and De’Andre Hunter rounded out the rebound column for the Hawks, pulling in 7 each for a phenomenal night in the paint.

Rebounds will be a stat to keep an eye on this year. Grabbing 12 offensive boards on a night where your team doesn’t shoot the ball as well as the HAwks did could prove to be the difference in a lot of games this season.
