The Atlanta Hawks had their first preseason matchup with the Orlando Magic on Friday night; here were Trae Young’s biggest takeaways from the loss.

After a 116 – 112 Friday night loss to the Orlando Magic in the first of four preseason matchups for the Atlanta Hawks, point guard Trae Young sat with media to discuss his team’s first showing of the season. The Hawks have entered one of their more highly anticipated seasons in recent years after general manager Travis Schlenk and the front office made some pretty aggressive moves this offseason to improve the Hawks roster and their 20-47 record from last year.

Third-year point guard Trae Young has some lofty expectations attached to his name after finishing in the top 5 in both scoring and assists last season and earning himself a starting spot in the NBA All-Star game. Many are even questioning if Young is a top 5 point guard in the NBA already.

While that remains to be seen, Trae Young and the Hawks turned their attention to Orlando for their first test of the season. Young played only 22 minutes in the opener and went 2 for 9 from the field, 0 for 2 from three, and finished with 7 points. After the loss, Young addressed some of the things he saw out on the court and what it was like playing with the new roster additions.

Here are 3 things Trae Young took away from the Hawk’s first loss to the Magic.
