Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks will cut down the turnovers

When you go so far as to add 9 total new players to the roster, it’s obvious that those new pieces will need some time to gel together. This proved to be true in the Atlanta Hawks’ matchup with the Orlando Magic on Friday evening. The Hawks turned the ball over a total of 23 times, with 6 of them coming from point guard and primary ball-handler Trae Young.

Trae chalked the sloppy play up to the guys simply figuring out how to play with each other, but knows that ball security will be a major key in the Hawks’ success this season.

“One thing I’ve been forcing and killing myself on this season is turnovers,” Young explained, “just taking care of the ball and everybody will see it. I know what I need to do.”

The Atlanta Hawks will have to adjust to Trae Young’s speed again and it could take some time given that the Hawks hadn’t played organized basketball in about nine months. The new guys should feel motivated to run hard and get open now that they know Young will be looking to get them the basketball.
