Starter grades:

PG. Hawks. TRAE YOUNG. A. Just an insane performance for Young and one that could have been even more impressive. The All-Star guard needed just 25 minutes and 12 shots to get to 37 points. He was his usual self from deep and refound the touch on his floater after struggling with it in the preseason. He added seven assists but did struggle with turnovers. Four in 25 minutes isn’t exactly what the doctor ordered and if the team wasn’t winning by so much, would be a bit more worrisome. But everything else was nearly perfect for Young on the night.

B +. A good performance for Cam, who wasn’t asked to do too much in the easy win. He scored the team’s first points of the season with a nifty floater in the opening minutes and was probably the team’s second-best defender, behind fellow sophomore De’Andre Hunter. His plus/minus of +27 was a new career-high.. SG. Hawks. CAM REDDISH

B. While other players but up bigger numbers in the box score, Hunter passed the eye test with flying colors on Wednesday. The forward played the top-tier defense that many fans were excited to see return and managed to add 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting on the other end. He’ll be the Hawks’ defensive ace all season.. SF. Hawks. DE'ANDRE HUNTER

JOHN COLLINS. B. Collins took a back seat in this one but showed he still has all the rim-running talent in the world. Catching a half-court lob from Trae and finishing through traffic, Collins provided the team with their first true highlight of the season. Bigger and better games are to come, but Collins was perfectly fine in this one as well.. PF. Hawks

Hawks. DANILO GALLINARI. B -. Like Collins, Gallinari wasn’t asked to do much in his debut with the team. Thurst into the starting center role with Clint Capela out, the forward held his own and grabbed four rebounds to go along with his 13 points. His plus/minus of +31 was his best since 2013.. PF
