Bench Grades

SG. Atlanta Hawks. KEVIN HUERTER. A -. When the Hawks’ second unit first entered the game, the Grizzlies were up 10 and it looked like things might get ugly. Huerter (and Nathan Knight) helped turned things around. The guard made his first four shots from deep and finished with 21 points. His plus/minus of +14 was a team high.

Capela’s injury and John Collins’ foul trouble thrust Fernando into likely a larger role than expected. He didn’t do much with his expanded role, playing 17 scoreless minutes. The only center on the team did step up on the glass, grabbing 10 boards, saving his night from complete disaster.. C. Atlanta Hawks. BRUNO FERNANDO. C

Talk about making an impact in limited minutes. Knight was great, putting up 14 points in eight minutes and producing a handful of highlight-worthy plays. Last game, I mentioned that Knight could be the next Hawks player to star out of a two-way contract and he’ll at least break into the rotation if he keeps producing these types of performances.. F. Atlanta Hawks. NATHAN KNIGHT. A

BRANDON GOODWIN. C -. A small bounce-back game from Goodwin, who was very rough in game one. He was just fine in this one, putting up five points on 1-of-4 shooting but playing better on defense. He did fail to add an assist as the team’s backup point guard, which is not ideal.. PG. Atlanta Hawks

SOLOMON HILL. B -.
Another high-effort game for Hill, who fills the role once held by Vince Carter very well. He made a 3, kept the second unit afloat defensively and added two boards. He’ll be solid in a small role all year.
. SF. Atlanta Hawks
