Why the Houston Rockets would agree to the trade.

The Rockets would say yes to this trade due to the fact they get a young star in the making to play alongside the new core they have constructed. Their starting lineup would consist of John Wall, Victor Oladipo, Danuel House, Collins, and Christian Wood.

They would have DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Gordon, Ben McLemore, Jae’Sean Tate, Goodwin, and Fernando coming off the bench. This lineup puts them in perennial playoff contention for the foreseeable future, even without Harden.

Collins also allows the Rockets to have some versatility in their lineups. He could play the power forward with the lineup above. He could also play the pivot role if the Rockets decided to go small ball and has the skills required to play on the wing if the Rockets go super big.

The Rockets would also be fairly confident they could sign the four-year man next season. He will be a good part of a probable playoff team whose culture is going to be led by John Wall. The Rockets have only $89 million committed next year but do have to re-sign Oladipo also, who would command less money than Collins.

This is the other reason to include Goodwin and Fernando. The Rockets will be looking for minimum deal players so they can spend at the top end of their roster.
