Atlanta Hawks: 3 players who have disappointed so far this season
Atlanta Hawks disappointing player No. 2) Rajon Rondo
While Rajon Rondo was injured for part of the season, he has played enough games to qualify for this list. Rondo has been disappointing this season in so many ways. One positive thing is that he is sharing his wisdom but his on-court play has simply stunk at times.
Rondo is now playing his 15th season and was part of the Los Angeles Lakers championship team from last season. His play is not reflecting that though as he is averaging 3.5 points, 4.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.6 steals in 15.5 minutes per game.
The problem Rondo is facing is that he is expecting more from a young team than they are going to give. He has always dribbled into the teeth of the defense and been able to make the right pass to get himself out of trouble. With the exception of getting the ball to the veteran Gallinari, Rondo has not formed the on-court chemistry to play his natural way.
Until Young had to sit out, Brandon Goodwin had moved past Rondo in the rotation but coach Lloyd Pierce obviously wants the experienced head of Rondo to start games. The Hawks are going to want more from Rondo for $7.5 million a season otherwise expect him to be gone before the trade deadline.
