Atlanta Hawks surprise No. 2) The struggles of Cam Reddish

One of the more interesting storylines for the Hawks this season is that lack of progression for Cam Reddish. Last season Reddish had a solid rookie year, averaging 10.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. He shot the ball at 38.4 percent from the floor, 33.2 percent from deep, and 80.2 percent from the line.

This season, Reddish has not improved, to any degree, his per-36 metrics are all very similar to that of a season ago. This is with the exception of his 3-point shooting which has in fact regressed this season.

Reddish is shooting the ball at an abysmal 25.5 percent from beyond the arc. This and the injury to his knee which caused him to miss a couple of games due to bruising, has in fact cost him the starting job when the entire team is healthy.

He is the best Hawks player at getting into the passing lanes and deflecting the ball. However, his inability to hit the 3-ball is causing spacing issues for the team. He is hitting shots at a better clip inside the arc but as he is taking more shots from deep, he is having a negative impact on the offense when his 3-point shot is not falling.
