Atlanta Hawks surprise No. 3) How the 3-ball is not dropping

The Hawks have struggled from deep all season. As a team, they are hitting 35.9 percent from beyond the arc which is only good for 19th in the league. The good news is that the Hawks are shooting the ball better than last season where they shot the 3-ball at 33.3 percent.

While Cam Reddish is one of the culprits of this poor shooting, there is any number of players who are shooting below their best. Solomon Hill is only shooting the 3-ball at 34.9 percent and Danilo Gallinari is only shooting at 35.4 percent.

The backup point guard position is a problem with Rajon Rondo shooting the ball at 30.8 percent and Brandon Goodwin is going at an appalling 23.9 percent from beyond the line. When the team star, Young is only going at 36.9 percent, the perimeter offense is struggling.

While some of this may be attributed to NBA teams being geared to defending the 3-point line. The Hawks, especially during losses, are missing too many open looks from the perimeter when they are able to manufacture them. This issue needs to be rectified if they are going to make any noise in the playoffs.
