Atlanta Hawks rookie Onyeka Okongwu comparison No. 2) Field Goal Percentage

Okongwu has shot the ball well in the opportunities that he has had when he is able to get on the court. Per-36 he is shooting the ball at 53.0 percent on 7.7 field goal attempts per game. This is a solid number and will garner him more court time as his career goes on.

Of the players who Okongwu is being compared with, only Jordan had a better field goal percentage (63.3) for his rookie season. If Okongwu can keep shooting at this clip then he is going to have a special rookie season to build on.

Antetokounmpo had a 41.4 field goal percentage, Capela had a 48.3 field goal percentage. Rudy Gobert, who has barely shot the ball from beyond the one-foot mark for his career only had a 48.6 field goal percentage.

With the exception of Antetokounmpo, no player took more than 0.2 shot attempts per game from beyond the arc. Okongwu has yet to take an attempt from deep in his eight games so this will be an area of his game that he can work on.

Horford is one of the few players on this list who has extended his range to the 3-point line throughout his career and been a consistent, dangerous threat. The rest of the players have continued to be paint scorers and Okongwu has started his career at a better clip than most of them.
