The Atlanta Hawks recently had a two-week road trip that took in eight locations. This trip included stops in Houston, Oklahoma City, Los Angeles for two games, Sacramento, Denver, San Antonio, and New Orleans.

This would be one of the most taxing eight-game stints in the season, and it was made even tougher by the number of injuries the Hawks endured through this period. Kris Dunn and Cam Reddish did not play a game and De’Andre Hunter managed two games but had his minutes heavily restricted.

The Hawks then had a couple of games when they were without the recently traded Rajon Rondo, or who they got in return, Lou Williams. They then lost John Collins to an ankle injury and in the final game Trae Young sat with a knee injury and Danilo Gallinari sat with an ankle injury. Both of these felt like injury management decisions as it was the second night of a back-to-back.

How did the Atlanta Hawks go on the grueling road trip?

It would be perfectly reasonable for the Hawks to come back from a road trip such as the one described above with one or two wins. Instead, the Hawks split the game 4-4, winning the game they should have won, and some that they should not have.

This means that the Hawks are trending in the right direction under their interim head coach, Nate McMillan. The team went into the road trip with a huge number of questions, including the big one, would John Collins be a member of the Atlanta Hawks past the deadline. Well that any other questions were indeed answered.
