How Atlanta Hawks CEO Travis Schlenk worked his magic in free agency.

With the exception of Kris Dunn, every signing Schlenk made during the offseason has been a winning move. Some have required extra work, but that is the nature of the NBA. Dunn has simply not been healthy enough to take the court but it will be interesting when he does.

Schlenk also managed to pounce on another franchise’s mistake when he signed coveted shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic. He locked him up on a four-year, $72 million contract with the fourth year being a player option. That is looking after the future of the franchise.

He signed Dunn to a two-year, $10 million contract with the second year being a player option. Dunn was all ready to play just prior to the season starting but had ankle surgery which has seen him sit for the last four months. He is hopefully close to a return.

Schlenk also signed one of the better point guards in the playoffs to try and help the Hawks’ offense when Young sits. Unfortunately, Rajon Rondo was not up to the task and just did not fit with the team. Schlenk was able to move him and his two-year, $15 million contract for Lou Williams which was an incredibly good move.

Lastly, he signed  Solomon Hill to a one-year $2.2 million deal and Hill has been the glue guy who has performed almost every role for the team this season. This move went a little under the radar but it has helped save the season for the Hawks.
