Now that the Atlanta Hawks are in the playoffs, Trae Young will get to show the world that he has grown as a person and a player and that he is ready to lead his team. Now that he is in his third season, he understands his game a whole lot more.

He has grown as a player with all of the veterans around him. He is showing better decision-making abilities, about when to score himself, when to pass or even when to play the decoy. His backcourt partner Bogdan Bogdanovic has been incredible since returning from injury just prior to the All-Star break.

Under coach Nate McMillan, Young has gone from making plays without any structure to playing within the McMillan system. As a result, more players are getting into better positions to score, meaning the Hawks are becoming very hard to beat.

When the Hawks are sharing the ball, they are incredibly dangerous. Young is leading the way, getting the team moving with his passing. He was second in the league in assists for the regular season. However, there were a huge amount of hockey assists that he does not get the credit for.

Young has also shown that he does not have to take the game-winning shot, he is happy to pass it up to a teammate with a better look. One prime example of this is when Tony Snell hit the game-winner against the Toronto Raptors. Another was when he passed the go-ahead 3-ball to John Collins against the Washington Wizards to qualify for the playoffs.

Now, let’s explore how Trae Young is going to be crucial in the playoff for the Atlanta Hawks.
