Atlanta Hawks: 3 takeaways from the first two playoff games
The Atlanta Hawks escaped Madison Square Gardens with the playoff series locked at one-all. They won the first game on the back of a Trae Young runner in the final second of the game. They had the opportunity to take the second game but the Knicks had were too good late in the game.
The good thing for the Hawks is they left New York with the home-court advantage. Now all they have to do is defend their home arena as they have for the past month. They have not lost a contest at State Farm Arena since the Milwaukee Bucks game which was in the middle of April.
The time in New York has been unpleasant for the Hawks, especially Young. In the first game, he was being abused by some members of the crowd. He was able to silence the crowd with his play. However in the second game Young appeared to be spat on by a patron, who the Knicks have since banned.
The Atlanta Hawks need to recapture their 3-point form.
In the first game, the Hawks shot 12-of-34 from deep, which is good for 35.3 percent. Then, in the second game, the Hawks were kept to 12-of-44 shooting, which is only good for 27.3 percent. This was the difference between winning and losing.
Thanks to their win in New York, if the Hawks can defend their home court then they only have to travel to the Big Apple once more. With all that in mind, let’s take a look at three takeaways for the Hawks
