The Atlanta Hawks season has come to an end in the Eastern Conference Finals, but the future remains bright for Atlanta and expectations will be high moving forward.  Before that, The Hawks have a big decision coming up in the off-season in regard to the future of John Collins. I’ll break down The Hawks’big decision on JC’s Free agency.

Collins, this year in the regular season, averaged 17.6 points and 7.4 rebounds, and in the postseason had 13.9 points and 8.7 rebounds. He was second in scoring in the regular season and third in the playoffs for the Hawks. Collins has been in the spotlight for Hawks fans with his restricted free agency coming up, and Collins looking to be paid close to, if not, max money.

Collins has had a much different year than he has had the last previous two seasons with the team. His role changed as a result of the team obtaining more talent, and forcing him to adjust during the season to find the way to be most effective.

The Atlanta Hawks have developed John Collins into a really good player

The 19th pick in the 2017 draft has come a long way in his development and being the player that he is today. He has become a solid 3 point shooter, shooting 40% this season and 35% in the playoffs. He also has a nice mid-range and is known as one of the better dunkers in the league. Not to mention, he gives you one block a game, as he is willing to improve as a defender.

This is General Manager Travis Schlenk’s first big decision with this team as he looks to put together a roster to compete for a championship. The question is will JC be a part of that roster moving forward or will he be playing his basketball elsewhere this coming free agency. We explore three routes the Hawks could go down.
