Atlanta Hawks improvement No.1) Better Shot Selection

Young, even with all his brilliance, still does struggle with his shot selection at times. This was apparent at times in the playoffs. The shot that can get him and his team in trouble the most is when he takes the 30ft threes. Young has a killer mentality and those kinds of shots can demoralize the other team while providing a spark and momentum for his own. The issue is when you miss, it leads to easier fast-break baskets the other way.

Young shot the 30-foot ball at 23.1 percent in the playoffs and that was an area that would get him in trouble. There were also times that Young would be hunting for the 3-ball as well. He has to be smarter when deciding to take those kinds of shots. Young averaged 6.3 attempts from beyond the arc in the regular season, in the playoffs he bumped it up to nine. For the majority of the playoffs, he was able to get whatever he wanted, so it was frustrating at times when he settled.

In the playoffs, every possession counts, so you have to make the most out of each one. We forget Young is a relatively inexperienced player and sometimes that comes with time on the court. The hope is that he will come back with an improved shot selection next year because the last thing you want to do is shoot your team out of games.
