The Atlanta Hawks have the 20th pick in the 2021 NBA draft. This is a draft that is very deep with talent and there could be a large number of gems to be found in the late first-round or even early into the second round.

The Hawks have had some success drafting around this pick. Three years ago they took Kevin Huerter with the 19th pick and he has developed into a tremendous player. He is now under a coach who is going to be really good for him as Huerter is a true Nate McMillan-type player.

The Hawks also selected John Collins with the 19th pick the season before. He is going to be the most sought-after power forward in free agency in the offseason such is the level of his talent. Unfortunately for the Hawks, he is likely to be overpaid meaning that he may go elsewhere.

The Atlanta Hawks have also selected some good role players around pick No. 20

The Hawks found good value when they took Josh Smith with the 17th pick in the 2004 draft. They also selected Jeff Teague with the same pick in the 2009 draft and he turned out to be an All-Star during the last Eastern Conference Finals season.

However, there are role players who are available around this pick. The Hawks selected DeAndre’ Bembry with the 21st pick in the 2016 draft who was a tremendous lock-down defender for the Hawks and is continuing to ply his trade with the Toronto Raptors after signing there the last offseason. Now let’s take a look at the top five picks taken at No. 20 this century.
