After the Atlanta Hawks made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, this is an expectation that they will contend at this level again. They have kept most of their core together with Trae Young, Bogdan Bogdanovic, De’Andre Hunter, and Clint Capela being under contract.

They have the chance of losing John Collins this free agency due to him not signing his rookie extension last offseason. He is likely to be overpaid so there is a good chance that the Hawks will not want to jeopardize their future by playing one player too much.

The Hawks have a number of rotation pieces that are out of contract this season. These include Solomon Hill, Brandon Goodwin, Tony Snell, and Lou Williams. This means that most of the experienced veterans at the small forward position are a chance of not coming back next season.

The Atlanta Hawks have the potential to lose a young key piece

There are a lot of teams who are interested in the likes of Kevin Huerter, Hunter, and especially Cam Reddish. There have been rumors going around that the Hawks might give him up for a decent haul of picks. For a team looking to win now, this would be a mistake to make this sort of trade.

The Hawks need to make a lot of decisions in the coming offseason and the ramifications have the potential to make or break the franchise’s current successful period. The Hawks still need to make sure that they have depth at the small forward position, considering the injury issues they endured last season. Here are some free agents to avoid at the small forward position.
