Atlanta Hawks season goal for Jalen Johnson No. 1) Improve his half-court offense.

While being good in transition will get you some court time in the NBA it will only get you so far. Basketball, when played at the elite level, is less about transition and more about being able to produce in the half-court, beating defenses that are set.

Johnson has all the right tools to produce in the half-court and he is playing with the right point guard to help him out. His 3-point shooting is excellent in transition due to his ability to take this shot when open. When Trae Young is creating his usual amount of havoc on the floor, he is going to pass Johnson open in a way that the rookie will never have experienced before.

He is also very long with good bounce so he will provide a similar level of bounce as John Collins to connect with Young, Delon Wright, and Lou Williams for the alley-oop play. This was a staple of the Hawks’ offense last season, particularly on the pick and roll.

Another area that Johnson can influence the offense is by using his length to secure the offensive rebound, giving the Hawks more second-chance opportunities. He could get a high number of his early career points this way.
