Atlanta Hawks: The three most challenging stretches in the schedule
The Atlanta Hawks showed last season that the highs and lows of the NBA season can be overcome. They started the season out in fine fashion, winning four out of their first five. However, that good feeling did not last long as they were to come back to earth in a big way.
The Hawks would go on to lose six of their next seven games in their first slide of the season. The second slide came at the start of February, losing seven of their first eight games for the month. It was a tough time for the Hawks as they were also battling injuries, which was something they would battle throughout the season.
However, looking deeper into their two big losing runs for the season, the Hawks lost against only two playoff teams in the first one. In the second losing run the Hawks lost five games to playoff teams which is a little more acceptable. That was a tougher run but if you want to win it all, you need to beat these teams.
The Atlanta Hawks made the right coaching change to weather these tough patches in the schedule
When the Hawks made the change from Lloyd Pierce to Nate McMillan they chose to go the way of system, structure, and belief. This is how you can get through any sort of crisis time. With the exception of the Philadelphia 76ers baseball series, this seemed to help them through the rest of the season.
Now that the fixture has been released for the 2021-22 season, the Hawks have several tough patches that they need to navigate. The expectation is that they should be able to do this successfully as they have already shown what they are capable of last season, in spite of the injury issues they had. Now, let’s take a look at the toughest sections.
