Atlanta Hawks must-see home game No. 2: Sun, Nov 14 vs. Milwaukee Bucks
The Hawks get their first crack at a little redemption (emphasis on ‘little’) when the reigning champs come to town. After going six games with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Hawks have to be looking forward to a chance at facing them healthy.
And that goes for both sides.
Young got hurt in Game 3 and missed the next two while Hunter had been out since the end of the first round. Bogdan Bogdanovic was also fighting through an avulsion fracture and Cam Reddish was returning from his Achilles injury.
Of course, the Bucks were without Donte DiVincenzo and Giannis missed the final two games with a hyperextended knee.
The point still stands that a lot of important players were hindered during this postseason clash.
During the regular season, Milwaukee had a 1-2 advantage, outscoring Atlanta 117-111. One of the losses came before McMillan (and without Young) while the other came without Hunter. The win also came without Young but after McMillan was named interim head coach.
Both Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday are coming off of winning gold at the Olympics as well, ensuring a little added confidence on their side. But the Hawks might be able to bank on improved health as well as depth to make a significant difference against a formidable foe.
One thing Milwaukee did lose was P.J. Tucker. He was a key contributor during their title run, particularly with his pestering defense. He’ll now be doing that for the Miami Heat.
