The Atlanta Hawks decided to move on from two-way player Nathan Knight during the offseason, Knight signed a two-way deal with the Milwaukee Bucks and there would be very few Hawks fans who would not wish him well.

The other two-way player from last season, Skylar Mays, was given a qualifying offer which shows that the Hawks wanted to explore how he fit with the team. Mays was not able to develop like a normal two-way player last season as the Hawks did not enter their G-League team into the bubble.

Mays got some time in the rotation under coach Lloyd Pierce but this dried up under Nate McMillan. This was not due to McMillan not wanting to play him but because Bogdan Bogdanovic came back from injury. The Hawks are a much better team with Bogdanovic on the court.

The Atlanta Hawks saw promise in Skylar Mays.

The Hawks want to see what Mays can offer with a full season of development. While he showed a bit last season, his playing time was so erratic that it was impossible to get a proper read on where Mays fits into the Hawks squad.

He can play both the point and shooting guard positions, that is obvious. What is less obvious is where he should be playing for the Hawks. Mays needs to study both of these positions in the offseason so that he can develop the skillset that the Hawks will need of him moving forward. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the legends Skylar Mays needs to study this offseason.
