The Atlanta Hawks had a tremendous season and it was in large part due to the versatility and the durability of Kevin Huerter. Red velvet had another season where he did it all on the court, even leading the team in steals.
Huerter was moved in and out of the starting lineup according to how many players were injured at the time. His role changed every night, sometimes being the starting small forward or the starting two-guard, he just went out and played basketball.
This has been his mindset since entering the league. He is a true glue player that gives the team what it needs when it needs it. He does not even seem to have an issue of whether he starts or if he is off the bench, Huerter is a true team man.
The Atlanta Hawks are a much better team with Kevin Huerter on the court.
As a testament to the way that Huerter plays, it was no surprise that he was able to pull a 27 point performance out of the bag when his team needed it most. He kept the Hawks in the final game of the Eastern Conference semi-finals with Trae Young shooting like he was blindfolded. However, when Young was needed the most, he took over from Huerter and the Hawks won the series.
Defensively Huerter has stepped up in a way that not many people saw coming. The help defense in the first-round series against the New York Knicks he offered against Julius Randle was crucial to the Hawks winning that matchup as easily as they did.
