Atlanta Hawks: B/R ranks Bogdan Bogdanovic as the weakest starter
Bleacher Report writer Greg Swartz released his article on each team’s weakest member of their starting lineup. The weakest link that Swartz was able to identify in the Atlanta Hawks lineup was shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic.
When you look a little deeper, you see that the reason that Bogdanovic is the weakest starter is that the rest of the unit are league leaders or potential stars, Bogdanovic is the weakest by default. This is a tremendous place to be in for the Hawks and will allow them to show that last season was not a fluke.
The thing is that Bogdanovic was actually the 11th best 3-point shooter last season whilst also being a high-volume shooter from beyond the arc. He took 7.6 attempts per game, connecting on 43.8 percent of them. He also was 20th in true shooting percentage going at 60.2 percent.
Why the Atlanta Hawks should not replace Bogdan Bogdanovic in the starting lineup.
The article also suggests that the Hawks could use Kevin Huerter or Cam Reddish in the starting lineup but both of these players have their drawbacks. What Bogdanovic offers is elite floor spacing, a secondary creator, and solid defense. He is often the Hawks leading scorer after the first period which helps Trae Young later in the game.
Reddish is the best off-ball defender on the team. His ability to get into the passing lanes, creating deflections and steals is vital for this team. However, despite him having an incredible playoff series from deep, he does not offer the same floor spacing as Bogdanovic.
Huerter could be a starter on many teams in the NBA but where he suits the Hawks is coming off the bench. His versatility can impact a game as he can play and defend three positions on the court. He is also able to create mismatches against smaller guards in the second unit which can swing a game in their favor.

It is a good thing that Bogdanovic is seen to be the weakest link in the Hawks’ starting lineup. This just shows the balance and depth of the Hawks for this season. If they can keep their starting unit on the floor, they will be a tough matchup for anybody.
