Legends Atlanta Hawks wing Cam Reddish needs to study No. 3) Dale Ellis
Dale Ellis was a top-10 pick in the much-vaunted 1984 NBA draft. It did take him a while to find his feet in the league, struggling to make much of an impact during his first three seasons with the Dallas Mavericks. However, that all changed when he moved to the Seattle Supersonics.
Ellis became a flat-out scorer during his time with the Sonics, averaging 20.9 points per game in his six and a half seasons there. He was able to do this by being incredibly efficient with his shooting. He had a true shooting percentage of over 53.8 percent in all of his time there.
Reddish has a better grounding than Ellis did in his first couple of seasons. He also has the creative genius of Young beside him which should help him to become a better shooter. He now needs to carve out some regular rotation minutes now that he is back.
Reddish is always going to get court time based on his defense. If he can improve his offense then he will get more time. He may not displace Bogdan Bogdanovic from the starting lineup but he can work towards being one of the first players off the bench. This is the season where Reddish needs to shine.
