Legends for Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young to study No. 2) Tony Parker

Young has credited Tony Parker as being the inspiration behind his floater. Parker was able to use this weapon to frustrate many opposition centers during his 18 seasons in the league. Parker was able to use this weapon to great effect on his way to four NBA titles.

Another reason for this was Parker’s connection that he was able to develop with his teammates. He was part of the winningest trio in NBA history, the other members being Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan. Parker knew his role and played within it which is a very difficult concept for a lot of top players to grasp.

Parker was also very good at controlling turnovers. He averaged 2.3 turnovers per game for his entire career which is an incredibly good number for a point guard. It showed that he knew where his teammates were on the court and only took calculated risks.

He also stepped up when he was needed the most, winning the 2007 Finals MVP despite having the talent that he did on the roster. Young has already shown that he can step up in his first playoff run but there’s always something to learn from al an all-time great.
