Season goal for Atlanta Hawks wing De’Andre Hunter No. 2) Build on last season’s start

Hunter showed the NBA world that he was going to be a player of the future last season. His ability as a three-level scorer changed the way that Hawks were able to play offense last season. They had a small forward who was able to back down guards and other wings with a good shooting touch.

Defensively, Hunter was taking the best opponent wings and making their life difficult. Before he got injured, he took on the likes of Kevin Durant and Gordon Hayward to name a few. While he was not able to contain them every time, Hunter learned from each outing a became a better defender because of it.

He showed his improved defense in the first-round series against the New York Knicks. His ability to make life difficult for the opponent’s star player Julius Randle had a catastrophic impact on the efficiency of the entire Knicks offense.

If Hunter can continue to improve on what he started last season then the Hawks are going to be in a tremendous place. It is easy to forget that Hunter is only in his second season. He is yet to fully develop into the player that he will become in the NBA.
