The Atlanta Hawks joined the rest of the NBA for media day on Monday. It was about as standard procedure of an event as you will get in the sports world. But that doesn’t mean there weren’t important things to glean from it. With appearances from the entire roster and a day to burn, we got answers to a lot of questions.

Head Coach Nate McMillan was the source of many of those quotes as he laid out expectations for the team and goals for the players.

But it was the players that gave us the best quotes of the day.

The Atlanta Hawks players all sound ready for the new season to start

Many were likely waiting for Monday to get further clarification on the injury updates given last week. At that time, General Manager Travis Schlenk surprised many when he announced that Clint Capela and Kevin Huerter had undergone procedures and would be brought along slowly in training camp.

This was in addition to the (at least somewhat) anticipated kid-gloves with De’Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic coming off of knee injuries.

Perhaps the most disheartening piece of information was that McMillan was unsure how much if at all any of the injured Hawks would play during the preseason. He did say that all but Capela would participate in the first part of double practices over the first three days of camp.

Still, there were more than enough positive things said by players to come away with an overall optimistic outlook.
