The Atlanta Hawks decided that they were going to look for another solution to their non-Trae Young minutes this offseason. They failed in their attempts to solidify this time on the court last season with two separate moves.

The first was Rajon Rondo who had just come off winning a championship the season before with the Los Angeles Lakers. He looked to maximize his potential earnings but ended up not being able to play with the young Hawks bench. The other was Kris Dunn who the Hawks got almost nothing out of and he was the centerpiece in the trade for Delon Wright.

The Hawks sent Dunn and Bruno Fernando to the Boston Celtics, receiving Tristan Thompson in return. They then flipped Thompson to the Sacramento Kings in order to secure the services of the talented big guard who started his career with the Toronto Raptors.

The Atlanta Hawks are looking to have Delon Wright lead the second unit

The Hawks head coach Nate McMillan has no preconceived ideas about how he is going to use Wright in the Hawks rotation. He has certainly been interested in him for a long time. He was looking at how he could get Wright to the Indiana Pacers when he was the head coach there.

Now that McMillan has managed to get Wright into his franchise, expect him to be a crucial part of the second unit Because Wright has the ability to play on and off the ball, it is going to be difficult for opposition second unit defenses to contain him.
