It is that time of the year when preseason basketball has begun, the regular season is in our grasps, and excitement for the sport of professional basketball returning to our favorite cities is building, it is no different for Atlanta Hawks fans who have the added excitement of thier team’s unexpected success last season.

For what is essentially the third NBA season to occur within the past calendar year, we are so close to getting NBA basketball and the Inside the NBA crew back on our TVs, crazy Twitter debates, highlight dunks, and all of the fun that the NBA season brings to its viewers.

With unorthodox lineups and some stars sitting out in the preseason, this period of time often has no real news circulating, which makes the news of Trae Young being featured on the cover of the distinguished Sports Illustrated magazine that much more exciting for Hawks fans.

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young deserves to be on the cover

That’s right, alongside his contemporary, Luka Dončić, Young graced the illustrious cover of Sports Illustrated on Wednesday.

The cover rightfully dubs both players as young superstars that will be faces of the league for years to come. “The NBA stars of tomorrow are here today” can be read on the cover of the magazine.

After last year’s magical postseason run that sadly fell short of the ultimate goal, Trae Young has definitely earned the honor of being on the cover of SI.

With just about two weeks until the Hawks begin their 2021-2022 campaign, this issue of SI should be enough for Atlanta fans to get excited about in the meantime.

In on the court news, Young left the first preseason game on Monday with a right quad contusion, but the star point guard says “I’ll be good”.

Trae Young and the Hawks open their season with a TNT nationally televised game when they take on Luka Dončić and the Dallas Mavericks at State Farm Arena on Friday, October 21 at 7:30 ET.
