The Atlanta Hawks have announced that Bogdan Bogdanovic is only probable to play in the game against the Philadelphia 76ers. He is suffering from right ankle soreness which is a very general description but the Hawks will not risk him if he is not good to go at tipoff time.

This is where the depth of the Hawks gives Nate McMillan so many options. He could start Delon Wright next to Trae Young in the backcourt which would give him two very good creative players which would make life difficult on a 76ers defense that still does not have Ben Simmons.

In the same vein, he could try Lou Williams as the two-guard which would be tremendous on offense. However, this would leave a lot of defensive pressure on the front-court who is already looking to contain Joel Embiid meaning this would be a poor option.

Do the Atlanta Hawks start Kevin Huerter or Cam Reddish?

So the question is, which of the young guns should Nate McMillan start if Bogdanovic is not able to suit up. Kevin Huerter has started already this season when De’Andre Hunter felt under the weather and was unable to play. The problem is that he is currently in a slump which the Hawks need him to come out of, he is so important to the team.

If McMillan decides to start him in place of Bogdanovic will it help Huerter as he is playing with the best players on the squad? Red velvet is also able to run the second unit alongside Wright so the Hawks’ brains trust might decide to get his rhythm back against the 76ers second unit.

The other option is Cam Reddish. The former Duke player has been on a tear to start the season and his play has been crucial in the Hawks’ early-season wins. The coaching staff will need to weigh up if his two-way game is going to help them more as a starter or as the first man off the bench.

Either player would work as a potential stand-in for Bogdanovic, should he not play. However, it would be tremendous if Reddish was rewarded for his play so far this season with a start. He has shown that he deserves the opportunity.
