Can the Atlanta Hawks upset the Golden State Warriors on the road
The Atlanta Hawks almost pulled out a surprising victory against the Phoenix Suns on the first game of their four-game road trip. Unfortunately for the Hawks they faded badly in the fourth period which allowed the Suns to take the win by four points.
Trae Young had a double-double but needed to do more to help the team win. John Collins came back to form with a 26 point game. This will hopefully translate into another big game against Draymond Green. The last time these two teams met, Collins gave the “greatest defender ever” a basketball lesson.
The Hawks are getting to the point, even at this early stage of the season, where their backs are about to hit the wall. There is a chance that if they don’t start winning on the road then this season if going to be wasted.
Can the Atlanta Hawks turn their season around against the Golden State Warriors?
The problem for the Hawks if they have no respite in this roadtrip. The first game was against last season’s NBA finalists. Their second game is against the Warriors who have the best record in the entire association through the first few weeks.
Fortunately for the Hawks, they match up well against the Warriors. Andrew Wiggins is their second scoring option and he is the perfect matchup for De’Andre Hunter. If the Hawks can decrease the efficiency of the Warriors offense with their 3-point defense from last season, then they stand a chance.
The Warriors have managed to get to the top of the standings on the back of their tremendous team defense. This is where Young needs to use his speed and decision making to unlock this defense. As a team, the Hawks need to shoot the ball better so that they can help their point guard acheive this.
