The Atlanta Hawks have had one of the toughest schedules to start the season of any NBA team. They have played eight of their 12 games on the road with one more to come. For a team with such a poor regular-season road record, this is tough, even while they were making their run towards the playoffs last season.

They have one more road game on this Western Conference road swing before they return to the comforts of State Farm Arena, which they have made into a fortress of sorts over the past two seasons. They have five home games where they can help restore their season.

Unfortunately for the Hawks their first home game of the five-game stand is against the Milwaukee Bucks. The good thing is that last season’s champions have yet to hit their best form in the new season. They are only eighth in the Eastern Conference and could be vulnerable in this home game.

The Atlanta Hawks schedule eases up a little after the Milwaukee Bucks game.

After the Bucks game, the Hawks get a little respite but they cannot afford to rest on their haunches, they need to treat every opponent like they could beat them – because they can. The Hawks still need to win the games that they should win.

If the Hawks can take most of their home-stand where the final four games are against the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, and the OKC Thunder then they could take some momentum onto the road. They face the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies on a two-game road swing.

After this little road trip, the Hawks then play eight of their next 11 games at home. This means they will play 13 of their next 18 games at home, once they finish this road trip against the Denver Nuggets. If the Hawks can take most of these games then they are looking good to get back into playoff contention. Let’s hope that John Collins can keep producing his road numbers at home.
