The Atlanta Hawks (8-9) season has been a story in three parts. They got out of the gates fine enough, going 4-3 but not looking like they did to end last season. Then came the unpleasantness as they proceeded to lose six straight, the last four of which were away from State Farm Arena.

Atlanta is a miserable 1-8 on the road this season.

A five-game homestand came right on time to give the Hawks a much-needed chance to reset as they found themselves near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

They’ve since won four straight games, averaging 118.5 points per game, the best mark in the league over that span.

It has been an all-hands situation with forward De’Andre Hunter out, punctuated by their 115-105 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday.

The Atlanta Hawks are riding the momentum of this homestand

The Hawks got a monster game from Clint Capela right on cue, as he had 20 points and 15 rebounds in under 24 minutes of action. Foul trouble kept him from having an even bigger impact on this one as he picked up his fourth foul in the final minute of the third quarter. That limited him to just over four minutes in the fourth quarter.

Trae Young had 19 points and nine assists but wasn’t very efficient in getting there, shooting 33.3 percent from the floor and going 2-for-7 from downtown.

John Collins had 15 points (on 70 percent shooting), eight boards, three assists, and three blocks in another well-rounded performance as the Hawks had six players in double figures including Kevin Huerter and Cam Reddish who both had 17 points.
