Atlanta Hawks stud after losing to 76ers again: The rollercoaster continues for Gallo

Danilo Gallinari has been in both sections of these as the season has gone on, qualifying more often for the next slide. But he went out and had himself a game against the 76ers, scoring 18 points to go with eight rebounds and three assists. The points double his output from the win over Indy and more than the last two games combined.

It was also a much better performance than his first try against this team this season when he had four points and four boards while shooting 33.3 percent overall.

He led an Atlanta bench that outscored Philly’s 35-18 in this contest.

The best part is he came away with the top defended field goal percentage on the team at 28.6 percent, holding Danny Green and Seth Curry to 0-for-4 shooting in his coverage. It’s not much. But it holds weight as Gallo’s defense had suffered right along with is offense recently.

With so many injuries moving part around, it is imperative that the Hawks get some consistency from their veterans in Gallinari and Lou Williams – who was the only player besides Young to score in the fourth quarter. One game after three sup-par ones doesn’t mean he is “back” just yet. But it is better than a fourth poor performance in a row.

In the end, his showing against the 76ers wasn’t enough to help his team overcome. But it shows that there is still a lot left in the tank for the 33-year-old scorer.
