Studs and duds from the Atlanta Hawks most disappointing loss yet
Atlanta Hawks stud from the most disappointing loss: K’Von had it going from deep in a nice bounce-back
We promise this swapping of spots for Kevin Huerter between the last few games isn’t intentional. He really has been somewhat up and down over their last few, but it has been mostly on defense. Coming in off of 19 and 12-point outings the two games prior, Hueter went off for 28 points on Sunday, tying his season-high.
What’s more, he went 7-of-11 from downtown, setting a new season-high in attempts and makes.
Huerter also snagged three boards and doled out a pair of assists.
It is the seventh time in Atlanta’s last nine games he’s scored double figures and his third-straight; a span during which he’s averaged 19.7 points on 61.8 percent shooting and has hit 12-of-21 triples.
Huerter is now second among full-time Hawks in three-point percentage, behind Collins no less, at 39.6 percent.
Remember, he began the season shooting 20 percent from deep over his first nine games.
Since being inserted into the starting lineup for Hunter, Huerter is averaging 13.5 points, 3.4 boards, and 2.6 assists. He’s up to 14.6/3.2/2.8 as a starter on the season. Compare that to 5.7/3.5/1.8 as a reserve and the logic behind him potentially remaining a starter becomes clearer.
Add to the fact that his defensive play was solid before the last two games. Kelly Oubre and Ish Smith got to him for 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting combined on Sunday.
Hopefully, he bounces back on the defensive end soon. But it has been nice to see his offense come back.
