The Atlanta Hawks affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks claimed Langston Galloway off waivers and this could have a profound impact on the team. Galloway was last signed by the Golden State Warriors in the preseason but waived him prior to the season starting.

This means that Galloway last played competitive basketball at the highest level with last year’s runners-up the Phoenix Suns. The 6-1 combination guard has played 445 games in the NBA with five different teams so knows how to fit into multiple systems.

Galloway was on the All-Rookie team in 2014-15 while playing for the New York Knicks. He actually went undrafted in 2014-15 before making a name for himself while playing for the Knicks G-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks. This shows that he knows how to work hard to achieve what he wants.

The Atlanta Hawks may use Langston Galloway to help develop some of their players.

Jalen Johnson has been recalled to the varsity squad and Sharife Cooper has been assigned to the Hawks. Despite this, there will be plenty of opportunities for the 30-year-old veteran to help these young guys develop.

Johnson is struggling with his efficiency, and as was stated to me on Twitter, he is just a 19-year-old kid who needs some reps. While that is true, due to him being a first-round draft pick and a prodigious talent, there is a lot expected of him. Having a veteran around him who has played in the league for seven seasons will help Johnson make better plays for the team going forward.

So this then leads to the question in the headline, could Langston Galloway play for the Atlanta Hawks? There is a distinct possibility that he could. The Hawks are looking to win now and also still looking to solidify the minutes that Trae Young is on the bench.

Delon Wright has played tremendous defense but is still looking to find his fit offensively with the second unit. If Galloway presses his claim by playing good minutes for the Skyhawks, there is every opportunity to become a two-way player or even make the varsity roster if the Hawks like what they see.
