The Atlanta Hawks had a terrible game against the Denver Nuggets. They fell behind in a big way during the second period and as a result were never in the game for the second half. Some of the Atlanta faithful even starting booing their team.

A big part of this was it appeared that the Hawks were going through the motions in the final period. It is ok to lose in this league, no team has gone undefeated through the regular season. However, what is not ok is for the team to lose in the manner that they did.

Fans don’t want to see their team appear not to care. These players are all professionals so they all want to win but the Hawks are struggling through a rough time at home and what they really want are answers as to why they have been playing so poorly at State Farm Arena.

The Atlanta Hawks could use the intensity of Bogdan Bogdanovic

What the Hawks are missing is the veteran presence of Bogdan Bogdanovic. While Trae Young is the undisputed leader on the court,. Bogdanovic leads by example in his own way. Look to the Eastern Conference semi-finals against the Philadelphia 76ers. Bogdanovic showed heart and courage playing through on an injured knee.

While he was not his usual threat on offense, but what he did do was defend at a high level, making sure that he was effective for the team when they needed him. This season since the sharp-shooter injured his ankle during the game against the New York Knicks, the Hawks have not won at home.

When the Hawks get his intensity back on the court, to go along with his floor spacing and secondary ball-handling, they will be in a better place. Their injury crisis is beginning to abate as they welcomed Onyeka Okongwu back, but the bigger in will certainly be Bogdanovic.
