The Atlanta Hawks are not in the position that they would like to be this season for many different reasons. In a recent interview on The Game, Travis Schlenk expressed his displeasure at what was happening, pointing the finger at the playing group but ultimately taking responsibility for the performance of the team.
One of the problems is that players are not putting in at the level required on the defensive end. The was the end of the court where Solomon Hill made his living. His specialty is pestering and annoying the opposition into making mistakes, missing shots, and generally being a tough player to score against.
The problem for the Hawks and Hill is that he is not going to be on the court for the rest of the season due to tearing his hamstring off the bone. The Hawks are a team whose makeup should see them as a playoff team and roster spots are like gold on a team with these aspirations this season.
The Atlanta Hawks do not want to lose Solomon Hill.
The Hawks seem to love Hill around the locker room. He has shown that he is a leader for their young players and has shown that he is not afraid to be the enforcer when required. He was the first to stand up to Nerlens Noel in the first-round series of the playoffs last season against the New York Knicks.
If the Hawks do decide to go down this path then it would be wise to keep Hill around. He is a voice that the team wants so as a result, they could offer him a role in the front office, an assistant coach, or even a consultant which would keep him around the franchise.
This would be a show of support for the injured player and it would mean that they have the best opportunity to sign him again next season.
