The Atlanta Hawks have question marks over their roster at the moment. When Trae Young has a spell on the bench, the Hawks are struggling to have any flow to their offense. This is a big reason that they are struggling to win games.

The team could try and upgrade their backup point guard position via trade. The other option is they could look to add a second scorer who can keep the offense rolling when Young takes a rest. This method would mean that the Hawks would only need the backup point role to be a low turnover ball-hander.

In order for the trade to work, it would need to involve three teams so that no one team had to give up all of their assets. Well, without any further ado, let’s look at the proposed trade.

Why do the Detroit Pistons say yes to this trade with the Atlanta Hawks?

The Detroit Pistons pick up the experience of Delon Wright and Gorgui Dieng with expiring deals. Wright is of an age where he could mentor the young core of guards while also being young enough to mostly fit the Pistons timeline. Dieng is a big body in the middle who can space the floor well.

However, the jewel in the trade for the Pistons is the rookie Jalen Johnson. He has shown some potential in the G League with some really good performances. The Hawks have also been developing him in some games. The versatility of Johnson is going to compliment the young future superstar on the Pistons team and he certainly fits their timeline.
