Why do the New Orleans Pelicans say yes to this trade with the Atlanta Hawks?

For the New Orleans Pelicans to lose Brandon Ingram, they are going to be looking to get something that they need back. This is where the Hawks will need to give up some to get some. Bogdan Bogdanovic is one of the best shooters in the association and this is what the Pelicans are in need of the most.

Adding Cam Reddish to this gives the Pelicans another young player who will be able to develop alongside their superstar, Zion Williamson. Reddish is able to provide a good level of defense while also spacing the floor with his shooting.

Trey Lyles and Rodney McGruder are included to make the salaries work across the three teams. They will most likely be waived once the trade is complete. This is also due to the Pelicans only giving up one player in the trade which means they may also have to waive one of their current players as well.

This gives the Pelicans the chance to head in the right direction when they finally get Williamson back. It addresses their need for spacing, while also having the potential to improve the team’s defensive capabilities.
