The Atlanta Hawks are in the center of trade talks. They have emerged as a potential suitor with the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons, a trade that may in fact benefit the Hawks. However, there is another team looking at a Hawks player for their own gain.

The New York Knicks have expressed an interest in trading for the Hawks swingman Cam Reddish. Given the state of his contract and what the Knicks have in this price range, it may be difficult for the two parties to come to terms.

The Knicks are similar to the Hawks in that they are not where they thought they would be after reloading their roster in the offseason. They are sitting one position higher than the Hawks’ in the standings. Now, let’s dive into some possible moves which may benefit both teams.

Would the Atlanta Hawks be interested in getting RJ Barrett?

The Hawks are struggling to win games at the moment. When Cam Reddish is healthy he has been a revelation with his scoring. however, when he has been the main guy, the Hawks have struggled.

On the four occasions that he has scored 20 or more points, the Hawks have a 1-3 record. In the two games where he has scored more than 30 points, the Hawks are 0-2. Dieng is a throw-in to make the salaries work.

RJ Barrett is one of the better players for the Knicks, being the second scoring option for the Hawks all last season. As they reloaded their roster over the offseason, he has seen a slight decline in his offensive production. He is still a high-quality player.

The problem is the Hawks already have Kevin Huerter in the backup combination small forward/shooting guard role and his shooting will be of much greater benefit than Heurter’s.
